Posted on 16/04/2025

With reference to Letter No. 2173-77/DPO/2025 dated 09/04/2025 and directions received from the office of District Programme Officer, Women & Development Department, Ambala, the Women Cell of our college organized a Nukkar Natak on the theme “Preventing Child Marriages on Akshay Tritiya” in the village Badagarh in block Shahzadpur. The girl students of our college along with members of Women Cell created awareness about Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, 2006 which forbids child marriages, and protects and provides assistance to the victims of child marriages. The performers of the Nukkad Nakat motivated the villagers to strongly oppose the practice of child marriages on Akshay Tritiya which is often chosen for holding a large number of child marriages. The villagers were made aware about the consequences of such child marriage such as child's loss of opportunities for education and segregation from family and friends, sexual exploitation, domestic violence, early pregnancy and related health risks. The principal of the college Prof. (Dr.) Umesh Bharti applauded the efforts made by students to prevent child marriage and motivated them to engage actively in social work for the benefit of the society.
